Day 2
(Tuesday, January 08, 2019)
Posing for a picture with Rumah Gadang as background.
Christine and
I woke up early to prepare ourselves because we planned to go to the International
Office to meet Pak Ananda. Our buddies Gema and Sysi booked us Go Car to fetch
us in our dormitory. While we were waiting for the Go Car, we had short
chitchats with the landladies. Before going to UNP, we had our breakfast in a
small store where we ate Nasi Goreng which only costs 10,000 Rp.
Initial Orientation with International Office Staff
After having a
nice meal, we roamed around the campus and took pictures. When we were in the
Rektorat, we saw Mrs. Sutria Rahayu again and finally met Pak Ananda. He
warmly welcomed and oriented us about the project. Another SEA-TEACHER
fellow named Renmark Tomas was also there with us. Right after we finished
taking photos, the other female SEA-TEACHERS came and were also oriented just
like us. Our buddies brought us to the Transmart to eat lunch and to have some
leisure time. Roaming around the mall was very relaxing. One can see the distinctiveness of Indonesian
Cuisine and their culture. In a day, you can hear a melody which signals the
Muslims to pray for a couple of minutes. They are so religious and strictly
follow their religious norms. They do love festivity which is very eminent with
the huge number of Indonesian people going to the mall. By 5:00 in the
afternoon, we went home by ourselves through the booked Go Car.
